Welcome. I'm so glad you are here.

Does life feel like it's getting on top of you right now? you do not have to endure it alone.

Life's challenges can often feel overwhelming, and frightening but finding the right support can make all the difference. As a qualified professional, I am here to help you. I am committed to the idea that therapy should fit the person, not the other way around, to that end we will work together to addresses your specific inidividual goals and needs. I offer a safe, confidential, and empathetic space where you will truly be heard, respected and understood.

My name is Barbara, and I am an Integrative Counsellor, this means that I draw on different counselling approaches (different ways of working in therapy) to tailor support to each person according to their individual needs. I understand that we all face difficulties in life at times and may need a safe space to explore what is causing distress. I offer a non-judgemental, safe, and confidential environment where clients can explore and work through the issues that are having an impact on them.

I recognise that the key to success is based on the client-therapist relationship. As a member of two professional bodies — the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the ACC (Association of Christians in Counselling) – I am committed to upholding high ethical and professional standards to ensure the best possible outcomes for my clients.

In addition to my counselling work, I have many years of experience working in education and within the NHS.

Individual Therapy

I meet you where you're at. Life has its ups and downs — big changes, overwhelming stress, or just feeling like you're drifting — and sometimes you need someone in your corner. If anxiety is running the show or you're feeling alone even when there are people around, you don't have to figure it out by yourself. Together, we'll take the time to untangle what's on your mind, explore what matters to you, and figure out what kind of change actually makes sense for your life.

Couples Therapy

Relationships are messy, beautiful, complicated. If you're fighting more than you're connecting, stuck in the same loops, or just want to feel close again, I'm here to help. Constant arguments drain both of you — it leaves you exhausted and feeling farther apart. Sometimes trust has been broken in ways that feel impossible to move past. We'll work on breaking those cycles, learning to argue in healthier ways, and rebuilding the connection underneath all the noise.

Young People's Therapy

Growing up comes with enough pressure already — school, friends, figuring out who you are, family expectations. You shouldn't have to carry all of that alone. My space with younger clients is warm and judgment-free. No lectures, no "back in my day" talk. Just a real conversation where you can unpack what's going on, at your pace, with someone who actually listens. What you share stays between us — this is your space, and your privacy is respected.

I work from Harrow, Middlesex, within walking distance of Rayners Lane and North Harrow tube stations, and see clients from the surrounding areas. I will provide full location details when we arrange our counselling sessions.

FAQ

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a collaborative process which involves the development of a unique, confidential, therapeutic, helping relationship. In this relationship, the therapist acts as a facilitator in helping the client to understand more accurately his/herself and the world around him/her; to better understand their feelings and behaviours, and to assist in their interpersonal relationships. Discussion of whatever is important and impacting someone's life can enable an individual to grow towards greater freedom in making mature choices and taking responsible action.

What is Counselling like?

Counselling will be a different experience for different people, according to individual needs based on your unique set of circumstances.

What happens during the course of your counselling experience may differ over time, based on your situation, progress, or changes in your life. Therefore how the therapeutic process will progress depends on your needs and goals.

What is an initial appointment?

The first session is an initial assessment, which lasts for 50 minutes and during this time, you will be asked certain questions about you and your life, in order to form a holistic view. This information is important as it will help to make an initial assessment of your circumstance and the type of counselling best suited to your needs.

Following this, sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes weekly for consistent progress to be made.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, all client-therapist conversations are private and confidential within the bounds of current regulations. I follow the professional and ethical guidelines of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapy).
